This month in 2nd grade music, we've begun to label tonal patterns, or small groups of pitches, with solfege syllables, such as "Do Mi So". This labeling allows us to delve into improvising over chord roots, transcribing songs into solfege, and singing chord roots.
This second grade class was able to sing the chord roots to "Skip to my Lou." You'll hear them sing "Do"s and "So"s that correspond with the harmonic changes in the song.
Nice job, second graders!
